Buddybox
Buddybox is a small ESP32-S3 desk box that looks like a turntable. The tonearm is a button: hold it to talk, or press it to play and stop. The record is a knob you turn and click. Under it, an 8x8 LED matrix sits in a clear plinth and lights up the desk. What it does depends on the firmware you put on it. Some options: - a push-to-talk voice satellite, for example with ESPHome and Home Assistant - a music remote - a scene dial - a timer - a status light I designed it in code with build123d and print it without supports on my Bambu P1S. What's inside: - ESP32-S3 DevKitC-1 N16R8 - INMP441 I2S microphone - MAX98357A I2S amplifier - 40 mm 8 ohm speaker, firing down - KY-040 rotary encoder with click - MX-style switch - rigid 8x8 WS2812B panel It measures 77 x 77 x 75 mm: a 60 mm box on a 15 mm light plinth. It runs on USB-C power. There are 13 printed parts in PLA+. The body is black, the record knob, grooved ring and tonearm are white, and the plinth is clear. Everything is held together with screws. No glue, no inserts, no magnets. Kit or assembled: The kit has all the parts to build it yourself. It takes about 2 hours. You'll need a soldering iron to solder wires to the MX switch and the LED matrix, plus small screwdrivers. The kit has no firmware, so you bring your own. The build guide, with the pinout and a generic ESPHome outline, is sent as a link by email. If you get it assembled, I build it and test it before it ships. No firmware is included: the build guide, with the pinout and a generic ESPHome outline, is sent as a link by email.
