Weather flap TV

A little retro TV for your desk that shows the weather outside. In weather mode it checks the current weather over WiFi every 15 minutes and flips to the matching picture: sun, moon (clear at night), partly cloudy, cloudy, rain, snow or storm. The rabbit-ear antenna wiggles while the flaps turn. Turn the red channel knob to flip through all 20 pictures yourself, press it for a random one, hold it to switch weather mode on or off. The knob works without WiFi. On your phone or laptop, http://splitflap.local lets you tap a picture, pick a random one, wiggle the antenna or switch weather mode. Weather comes from Open-Meteo (free, no account or key needed). I designed it in code and print it without supports on my Bambu P1S, in PLA. White cabinet, black screen surround, 40 x 56 mm pixel pictures. What's inside: - ESP32-C3 SuperMini, with the firmware - 28BYJ-48 stepper with a ULN2003 driver board, turning the flap spool - SG90 micro servo for the antenna - KY-040 rotary encoder behind the knob - Dupont jumpers and two Y-leads for 5V and GND - 2 M3 and 2 M2 self-tapping screws No home sensor: the position is saved after every move, and the web page has a calibrate step if it ever slips. It measures 100 x 98 x 71 mm. It runs on USB-C from a 1 A or stronger phone charger (not a laptop port). Cable and charger are not included. Kit or assembled: Both come with the firmware. The kit has the printed parts and the electronics above. You'll solder the two headers on the C3, make or buy the Y-leads, and wire it with jumpers. The 3D assembly guide with the wiring table is sent as a link by email. If you get it assembled, it's built and wired before it ships. Keep about 3 cm in front of the screen clear: the falling flap swings out for a moment.
